Tamoxifen is one of the therapies commonly used for hormone receptor positive breast cancer in women. According to the animal tests, Tamoxifen stops the induction of rat mammary carcinoma provoked by dimethylbenzanthracene (DMBA). Besides, the medication was observed to cause the setback of already determined tumors.
Tamoxifen main metabolites bind to the estrogen receptor preventing estrogen from binding to its receptor. So the mechanism of breast cancer cell growth is interrupted.
